SCU hosts Sacred Pixels public learning series

The Ignatian Center at Santa Clara University will host a 3 part public learning series entitled "Sacred Pixels: Exploring Sacred Text in Digitally Integrated". Culture. Sessions are designed to explore how digitally integrated spiritual practices form new sacred texts and how they engage the resources of traditional religions in local and remote conversations with a diverse community of scholars, journalists, and religious leaders from across the country. The series begins 23 January 2013 on the theme Engaging Digital Spirituality with conversation with Heidi Campbell, Texas A&M University and Lisa Webster of Religion Dispatches. Session two 30 January 2013 will explore Sacred Games and the rolereligious belief and practice play in popular online games and gaming communities with Rachel Wagner and Sean O’Callaghan. Session three on 13 February 2013 looks at The Digital Canon and Distributed Faith and how digital communities understand and negotiate religious and spiritual authority with Alex Pang, Kimberly Knight and Douglas Rushkoff.
