Digital Age shows mean side to Christians

Susan M. Shaw, a professor of Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies and Director of the School of Language, Culture, & Society at Oregon State University, recently wrote an article about how Christians are mean in the digital age. She has a background in religious studies and spent five and a half years in a Baptist seminary. While she was there, she noted that although discussions would get heated, people were always very respectful. Professor Shaw is new to social media and has been very shocked with how rude people's comments are and how it often results in name-calling and insults. She doesn’t understand how people can be so mean to one another just because they don’t agree with them. It is important that people know how to have difficult conversations while at the same time respecting that other people have different opinions and views. We should want to talk with people of other faiths or no faith and listen to each other's point of views and opinions while at the same time remaining respectful.
