'Digital Faith' in young people contrasts with shyness

Social networks, websites and mobile applications are used by young people who profess a faith, but there is a certain disconnection between their digital and their real-life practice.

The Ramon Llull University of Barcelona (Spain) studied the opinions of 2,000 young believers of different religions, aged 12-18. According to the survey, 24.2% of the surveyed use “digital religion” tools on a regular basis. Young Roman Catholics, Muslims, evangelical Christians, Buddhists, and Sikhs told the researchers how they express their faith online, in a study which aimed to update the “map of religions of Catalonia.”
