The Story Behind Palestinians Protecting an Israeli Policewoman

A photo recently went viral of what people believed to be two men shielding a policewoman from stones being thrown by Israeli settlers. Shaul Golan captured the photo in the Israeli settlement of Aish Kodesh and the Palestinian village of Kusra. The man who was pictured on the left is named Zakaria Sadah and he is a Palestinian field worker for Rabbis for Human Rights. It was reported that the religious Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian farmers on their way to their fields on Saturday. Tensions have been building recently after the death of a Palestinian toddler in an arson attack. The Israeli police were in full force after settlers claimed that Palestinians had thrown rocks at them. The real story behind the photo was that the policewoman got stuck in the middle of the confrontation and Sadah stepped in with the mayor of Kusra to tell the Israeli soldiers to not shoot and they walked the woman to safety. Sadah could have very well saved Palestinian lives because another office was ready to shoot. He felt that no matter the situation, it is most important to save a person's life.
