Bio Statement:
I am a doctoral fellow in the ELIME-21 program under the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have a BA in Latin from Western Michigan University and MA in Islamic Studies from the American University in Cairo. My research interests include digital media piracy, computation in the Humanities, Free / Open Source Software (F/OSS), digital libraries in the Islamic World and pedagogy / adoption / use of technologies. I amuse myself in whatever spare time is available with the construction and maintenance of GNU / Linux systems and an increasingly complex home network environment. I have worked as an IT consultant at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and have experience in system administration, web application deployment and network integration. My current technological dalliances focus on home automation and the baking of bread, one of humankind’s oldest and most important technologies.
