Pope Francis Launches Monthly Prayer Intention Video on Social Media

The Jesuit-led Apostleship of Prayer program recently announced that Pope Francis would now broadcast his monthly prayers on social media so that Catholics can watch his message and pray with him from all around the world. On Jan. 6 the monthly prayer was posted on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Jesuit Father Frederic Fornos said that the purpose of this is “to pray together with Pope Francis for these challenges will help a lot.” In addition to the prayers being posted on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, it will also be offered in 10 different languages. The pope plans on focusing on a few different topics for 2016 prayer intentions. According to the Catholic Herald, the topics will include: “greater care for creation; more support for families in difficulty; just compensation for small farmers; greater respect for women and indigenous peoples; helping sports contribute to peace; encouraging journalists to respect truth and be more ethical; greater support for countries that take in refugees; and an end to the use of child soldiers."
