Religion Pigeon memes are simply a stock image of a pigeon on a two color-scheme background (as is usual for the "advice animals") with text that sarcastically and satirically mock the Christian faith. "Advice animals" stems from the Advice Dog meme (the first stock character macro meme), which featured a puppy with a colorful pin-wheel background (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/advice-animals). These advice animal memes, which now include humans rather than just animals, are humorous in their tendency to provide non-serious "advice."
Twelve Religion Pigeon memes were chosen from knowyourmeme.com that had one major attribute in common: they provided commentary which highlighted contradictions of the Bible (either through replication or allusion of scripture).
The meme above, for example, denotes the tendency of Christians to pick which parts of the Bible they either agree with or choose to live by, while disregarding the rest as metaphorical and, therefore, not truly applicable. This criticism of Christianity promotes a negative outlook on the faith as well as its sacred text.
